Week 0 - Kassia Curl - Light in Nature (Sample post)

  Hello! My name is Kassia and I am the TA for Dance 287 this quarter. My photo for this week's post is a sunset that I captured (definitely not while driving) just outside of Irvine. The colors in the sky caught my attention because they fade from dim cool tones all the way down to bright yellow and orange in the center. The evening sunlight brushes softly along the clouds, and it creates a warm and beautiful moment to me :)

Welcome to the Dance 287 Journal for Fall 2023

  As artists, we see the world differently, but we all incorporate our surroundings into our art. To help understand lighting in a new way, these blog posts aim to increase your appreciation for light, in your daily life, and expand your vision as an artist. They will also help develop your eye for light, not just in the theatre, but in your daily life. To more effectively understand how light can alter the perception of the audience, we need to first understand how it alters our perception daily. As we move through the quarter, I hope this blog will help you discover light in ways you have not seen before. You'll see colors you've never noticed before, you may recognize the angle of a certain light, and you will find ways to articulate how light makes you feel.
